Hi Vern I have just had a look, when I tried installing it today the tag said 'Complete the installation of CODE and VisualAge RPG' it still says that even tho' I clicked on it earlier and went thru the installation and it said it finished ok. I have just tried it again on my mates PC(signed on as Admin), we installed WDSC on that same time as on mine, all it did was create an uninstaller and say that it has sucessfully installed. Methinks there is something not quite right with the installation wizard. -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]Namens Vernon Hamberg Verzonden: dinsdag 18 juli 2006 14:35 Aan: Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Onderwerp: Re: [WDSCI-L] WDSCi Tutorials/CODE Designer Steve, have you tried opening a member with the CODE Editor? You might not have - I haven't tried the tutorials yet. That would need the same connection. Go to Start->Programs and look for an item called something like "IBM CODE and VisualAge RPG 6.0". If you don't have this, you might need to install CODE. Of course, this assumes you are using version 6 of WDSC. Earlier versions have slightly different names. In there is an item called "Communications", and in there will be a link to the Communications Console. There's also a link for "Define TCPIP Server List" as well as "Define Server Logon". I know I have entries in both the latter items but for only one of our iSeries - I tried opening with Designer against the box that is NOT in the list and it still worked fine, so maybe this is irrelevant. You do want to look at the Communications Console and see is you have a server that starts with "R0" - these are the servers automatically started by RSE. After this I run out of ideas. ;-) HTH Vern At 03:39 AM 7/18/2006, you wrote:
Hello all, I am part way thru Don's tutorials (they are really good BTW :-) )and have got to the bit about working with DSPF's using CODE designer, I tried to open this and get a message 'The RSE connection My_iSeries could not not be registered with CODE communications' the details of this message are; To launch the CODE tools from the Workbench RSE connections must be registered with CODE communications. Possible cause: 1. The limit of 20 servers in CODE communications has been reached. Delete some of the servers from the CODE communications console or stop and restart the CODE communication daemon. 2. The local Windows TCP/IP hosts file is read-only. Find the hosts file (typically %windows_install_dir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) and make sure it is not read-only. 3. The RSE connection name contains DBCS characters. Rename the RSE connection, removing any DBCS characters. I have checked No. 2 and it is not just read only, I am a little lost about the other two, although I don't think the name contains any DBCS characters, unless it is another name I know nothing about, and I dont think there are over 20 servers but I could be wrong. When I came to load the CODE/VisualAge stuff it appeared to work ok apart from lots of messages stating that it could not create a whack of desktop icons. But I cannot find CODE or VisualAge anywhere, where/what do I look to check? We are on version 5.1 BTW. Thanks in advance for your help chaps and chapesses.
