The way it works is that you first run a normal full install of WDSC. They then have a process you can run locally that makes a second copy of WDSC that only contains the pieces needed to do native iSeries development -- RSE, LPEX etc... So, in terms of disk space, you actually have more installed then before, but in terms of running the application it should run and start faster and require a lot less memory. They have said in a future release they will have the install process let you pick the pieces you want so that you do not have to do the second step.
