This part seems interesting: |New WDSC Lite technology preview provides a lightweight edit/compile/debug |environment for developing native i5/OS applications (256 MB of RAM is |recommended to operate effectively). So, does this mean we install less stuff, or install all of WDSC and choose a run option that limits the amount of stuff being loaded into memory ? We are preparing to move to WDSC (or at least make a valiant attempt). I'm currently using CODE. We actually just had all our development boxes upgraded to 1gb of memory in preparation for this move, but we really aren't planning to do any java or webfacing right off the bat, so this "lite" version sounds like it may be the ticket. I have the disks for WDSC version 6.0 right here at my desk ready to go, I've just been waiting until my latest "hot" project is done before I can take the day or so it will require to install. (I have a botched installation of WDSC 5.1.2 to "uninstall" first). Should I hold off and install the 6.0.1 release, or will I need to install 6.0 then apply the "refresh pack" ? I guess I'm not clear on what "refresh pack" really means. Sounds more like something to tack onto an existing product than a new version. Is that correct? Does the "lite" version function the same way the full version would as far as native i5/OS applications are concerned ? |-----Original Message----- |From: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On |Behalf Of Violaine Batthish |Sent: Tuesday, January 31, 2006 3:15 PM |To: wdsci-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx |Subject: [WDSCI-L] WDSC, refresh pack V6.0.1 and WDSC Advanced Edition, |refresh pack V6.0.1 Announced | | |For full details, please see |http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/wdt400/news/announcement013106.htm l | |Cheers, | |Violaine Batthish |WebSphere Development Studio Client, IBM Toronto Lab |
