The new field would not be known to the RPG program until compiled again. I'm not sure of the source for building the view - I suspect the compiled object.

What I was actually trying to do is click on the 'Refresh View' button in
the Outline view.  Doing so does not reflect that a field was added to the
file.  I see the option you're talking about.  I never use verify, however,
as it takes longer than actually compiling the object.
