Your local GEAC support centre should be able to help you set up machine
manager and the IBM Redbook on setting up System 21 is also helpful

We use STRM400 for over 5 years, and works great for us. 
It does all the housekeeping, backups.

Just every know and then I have to do a manual SAVSYS all the rest is
handled by the machine manager.
This is exactly why the designed it. No need of IT staff.

  Hi Alan-

  Our GLUPDATE sits quietly in the DLYW state as it's normal course of
  operation.
  However, once in a while, we find it completely falls asleep - making no
  updates to
  the GL, but producing no error, either.

  To correct it, we bring the subsystem down and back up, using 32/GLU
  (Start/end Balances Update).

  This "wakes it up" so it'll pick up and process any transactions in queue.

  Has anyone else encountered this?  We haven't found a source of the 
  problem,
  but since the recovery is so quick it hasn't been at the top of the list.
