Kit lists are explained in Infobase, under Inventory Maintenance, and under Advanced Order Entry. Basically they're used where you hold stock as simple SKU's which may be sold in heir own right, or sometimes as a set. A (over?)simple example might be that you hold a nut, a bolt and a washer as separate SKU's but you may receive an order for the kit when you pick one of each. The kit may have different quantities of each component, component quantities are multiplied up by the number of parents required. The price for the kit is set for the kit, although components may have their own prices when sold separately. Kit composition may be varied as an order is taken, eg standard kit consists of 1x nut, 1x bolt and 1x washer, but this customer wants 2x washer, 1x nut and 1x bolt, or whatever. Additional components may be added. Various options are available for availability and allocation when only some components are available. From memory I think Pick Lists show individual components, Despatch Notes and Invoices the kit parent. In this way this function can be used as a simple configurator, but the cost of order line is the sum of components, so you cannot add value (eg assembly labour time) when assembling. Can anyone out there tell me if they are using this feature, know more about it, or if it's even there? Is there any documentation on it? I would appreciate the feedback.
