Hi Gilbert, Unfortunately, that has long been the IBM model, and JBA/Geac have just followed suit. If you upgrade your AS/400 you will not only have to pay additional fees to Geac, but IBM will charge you more for OS/400 too. (Someone please correct me if this pricing policy has changed.) You will also find that many 3rd party tools are tied to processor serial numbers & performance factors too. Technically, you are paying for Total Capacity.....not Utilization. You could do more, so you have to pay more... In a disaster situation, you will find that most Vendors (even IBM) will be very flexible with you, especially if a comparable model is no longer available. I would not expect 'free', but you might get lucky. Hope that helps, Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: <GManoovaloo@ibl.intnet.mu> To: <JBAUSERS-L@midrange.com> Sent: Friday, January 12, 2001 1:43 AM Subject: Licence upgrade fee related to Harware change > Wondering how you react to the fact that Geac might impose an 'upgrade > fee' whenever you need to upgrade > your AS/400 (model change).
