Randy: We are currently running v 352B. We installed Service Pack 3 on September 8, 2000. It came with source. All other service packs we applied we always received source. There is a Service Pack 3 for MXP which we only received the objects. That's when I found out they weren't allowing us source anymore. Never got any announcement from GEAC or JBA until then! When we purchased in 1998, our sales rep was Eric Sander and he told us we would always receive source. It is not stated in our contract. Fact is we always received source, based business decisions on having source. Sent a letter to Harry Debes and he stated back to me that JBA had a practice of always providing source. I feel we should continue to receive source based on the fact we always received it for the applications we originally purchased and were promised it. We also paid maintenance fees through 2003. I am trying to work with our new account rep on this and I get various stories that I should be entitled to continue to receive source at least for the apps I originally purchased to JBA screwed up and it was their mistake and they have no intention at this time to rescind the decision. Other days, I hear that GEAC is considering to rescind that decision. Can't get a straight answer anywhere. I am looking for support from other customers in the same boat I am. In the contract did the language imply or state the right of source code for all future releases? Having the "right" and obtaining may be different things. Have you applied "Service Pack 3" or later PTF's over 3.5.2 and did they contain source code? It stated clearly our right to source code in a couple of places. We discussed this with our account rep. and project manager and within a week had a resolution from GEAC that stated yes we were entitled to source code. My suggestion to you is to do a similar activity, first check your contracts and then address it with Geac. Charles Greene Director Information Technology Miller Curtain Co.
