It seems to me (my only experience is with PRMS, System 21 and MAPICS on a
36) that the vendors on the AS/400 platform create these applications that
are functionally robust, but error prone. It seems that this is acceptable
on this platform but would never be allowed on other platforms (NT, Unix).
Am I alone in this feeling?

Response:

We have two JBA sites and several BaaN sites running. JBA on AS/400 and
BaaN on Unix in the US and on NT in Europe. Bugs exist in all of these! We
view JBA as no better nor worse than the others. We have also found that in
the JBA environment we have caused a good percentage of the problem
ourselves via mods. I must emphasize that this doesn't excuse the JBA bugs
also present. Better testing strategies and reducing concern for bells and
whistles could help all of the software vendors. Just my 2 cents.
