Not necessarily, but it is much easier to find non-RPG programmers
than it is to find RPG programmers.

primary RPG, developers is much larger than most think and I profess that,
again using your reply as the example, a good RPG programmer will be able to
pick up whatever other language fairly easily, if they have not already done
so with one or more other languages.

Yes, a good programmer in almost any language is going to be able to
learn another language reasonably easily, especially if that language
supports the same or similar "paradigm". (In this case, we're talking
procedural programming.)

So some shops, particularly in a mixed environment but even if not,
might take the strategy of looking for a good programmer, period. And
they are more likely to find someone who doesn't already know RPG than
someone who does.
