Not always - no.

I have seen end users waste a lot of time searching through subfiles looking for a value that no longer exists because of updates to the database.

I came to the conclusion that once a subfile value is displayed it should not be changed unless the user asks for it. When a user requests a query be sequenced on a particular key they are, in my opinion, asking for the data that they are looking at to be presented in a new sequence - not for a new query.

This is surely the way that most browser apps work these days where the data is sorted within the page. The user gets a refresh when they ask for it.

This is very simple.

Any subfile should reflect the data in the DB as resent as possible.
Loading e.g. 100.000
records and pageing through the subfile in hours without reloading the data
from the DB
is a bad solution because one will work on a copy created on load time.

Refreshing the subfile (pressing F5) will either cause the sub-file to be
positioned at
the top/buttom or will require additional coding to positioning the subfile
where one where at
the time for the refresh.

So reading one subfile page at a time will most likely show real time data
and isn't it
what it is all about?
