The path is still wrong.

docNode = yajl_stmf_load_tree('home/bmartin/Louie.json': errMsg );

What is docNode after this, Booth? Null?

If the list isn't being found, there is no errmsg on that call. "The
list is empty" doesn't mean much for a description of the problem.

list = YAJL_object_find(docNode: 'list');

Is this what's erroring out? errmsg isn't even part of the call. If
it's not finding a list object then we'd also need to see the JSON
that is in the file.
