As Jon stated earlier, it could simply be a second prototype file with longer names for procedures and an ExtProc pointing at the shorter name:

dcl-pr rm_setll ExtProc(rm_sll);
...
end-pr;

The next version (this year probably) will support serialization of maps
to/from binary (BASE64) representation, and textual representation.
The textual representation will look a lot like JSON.
Then it's possible to store the contents of a map into a file, or userspace
or whatever.
The serialization will support a streaming protocol, so that memory is
efficiently used.

And looking at the responses here, maybe i'll add support for longer
procedure names.
Then the user can choose between using the short name, or the long name.
But i'm not sure i'll do this, as it's quite some work, without much gain
(IMHO).
Of course, people are invited to send me a pull request (it should add one
module which implements the procedures with the long names).
