So you are saying that your library is going to expose both the binary
and Base64-encoded form? That means your library will provide its own
Base64 encoder/decoder?

Well, yes, the idea is to expose them both.
There is already a Base64 decoder/encoder from scott klement, so i will use
that (with some adaptions i think).

What makes Base64 worth being part of the project, but JSON not?

Like i said earlier, JSON (and other external formats) should be
implemented in a separate project.

I'm with you that support for JSON is a desirable function.
Probably even more so than support for the native formats.
However, i first want to complete the base project RpgMap, which is not
complete without serialization to/from native formats.

Serialization to binary form is most compact format.
This binary form can also be represented in BASE64, which is less
compact,
but you're able for example to copy this text into a mail and send it to
somebody.

What about

<https://github.com/RelicPackages/base64>

which seems like another distribution of

<http://www.scottklement.com/base64/>
