I'll try to clarify the relationship between the programs involved; that may make things a bit clearer.

An initial menu program (OPM CLP) is invoked at user logon. An option accepts 6 parameters and submits a second program (OPM CLP) to batch. This second program originally invoked 3 OPM RPG programs; 3 more RPG programs were added, all written in RPGILE. I did this to take advantage of the date %BIF's among other things. This submitted CLP has different OPNQRYF statements preceding all 6 programs. Therefore, the reason why the RPGILE programs were compiled as running in the caller's AG is that without it, the open query is ignored. I know this through experience.

I would like to at least redo the submitted CLP as CLLE and work with scoping, but right now time doesn't allow me to do that.

To answer Glenn's question, the RPGILE program is not abending, it's giving an incorrect record count from the FIDS for the file opened via OPNQRYF.
