I can get around the network issue by downloading to my home pc and emailing
to work, it's just a pain plus makes researching issue difficult.

7.1 is fine for Python, and likely any other viable option you'll encounter
in the next year.

Also looking at the Easy400 tools (which I have used several before).

I would think (but have not verified for myself) that this is the best
"bundle" for using POI from RPG. It builds on Scott's work, and there is
some documentation there which hopefully isn't blocked by your workplace.

Speaking of blocked "personal" sites, the little articles I wrote to try to
help folks get started with iSeriesPython are actually blocked at my
workplace. While disappointing, it's also not surprising, since they are

In particular, it's probably important to read the one on installing Python
packages on the i for use with iSeriesPython, because that's one area where
the peculiarities of the i (relative to mainstream
platforms) really make a difference.
