I've had the same experiences as Steve. In the one case where the client
wouldn't let me restore my tools library (or do it for me) I just packed up
my pack and left. Probably not a goof option for many people (if any) these
days, but as many of you know I have a bad attitude - can't help it; it's a
genetic defect.

For what it is worth, it is rare where a client prevented me from loading my
library of tools onto their systems, once I demonstrated their value. I may
not have had Save/Restore authority, but the manager always facilitated
getting my library restored.

FWIW, I have never seen a shop that allowed RSTLIB or RSTOBJ from a
contractor's toolbox. The reasons given are varied and numerous.

They have their own templates and tools and that is what they require being
used. Again, the reasons given are varied and numerous.

I have been allowed to use IBM Rational Developer for i to connect to their
box.

This question is probably for contractors who routinely work on
different AS400's. How do you bring with you your tools/template code
to use at each job site? What if you are not allowed to use RSTLIB or
RSTOBJ? What is the easiest most flexible way to save your RPGILE
source code so that you can easily restore it to another AS400?
