a comment on training (or lack of) discussed:

in one recent large shop -
.net developers get training and time to work out new techniques.
RPG developers do not get training and do not even know new techniques exist.
That may seem like a failure in management, but upon closer examination, without someone participating in forums like this, or going to Common & other events, the RPG'ers are not even making the case of what training could do for the business...."heads in the sand"...
And management is not looking at what "i" can do... and that is somewhere between management and IBM.
