April,

One way or another, you'll have to interact with the local workstation.
iSeries Access is the standard method to accomplish this. Without that
standardization, you'll be writing code for the other emulator packages
that support local communication, and forsaking those that don't.

Short of **ATTEMPTING** to remotely launch a Java client on the local
machine, STRPCCMD is your best bet. Even then, you may encounter issues
depending on operating system, directory structure and program
dependence. If your goal is for the program to work for the end user,
there will have to be some standardization in place. I would write the
program to support a specific emulator and a specific viewer. If they
can receive the file via email, as you've stated, I think you may be
trying to accommodate the exceptions rather than the norm. Just my
opinion.

It seems all PC's will need Client Access.

What is it about STRPCCMD that is deterring you from that?

View PDF document

All,
Can anyone tell me how to view a pdf document from a
green screen. I have searched the internet over and cannot
seem to find an answer. The only way I believe it can
be
done is using STRPCCMD, which I do not want to use if at
all possible. Any help would be appreciated. This
will
be selected by entering an option from a subfile, allowing to
print, email, or view.

Thank you,
April
