You're half-right. From David's description, he did indeed create a
procedure, and is calling it successfully. Nothing wrong with that.
However, you're right that a CLLE procedure cannot return a value.
David's flaw is very simple. The CLLE is expecting and returning a
parameter, whereas the RPG is not passing one, but instead is trying to
receive a return value (that the CL doesn't pass). It's a simple mismatch.
It has nothing to do with whether it's a procedure or a program.
