Is that true? I seem to recall Giovanni Perotti initially saying it was open source. But then calling for IBM to make it open source. Then IBM promising to make it so, but not doing it.

Sadly it is not open source in the formal sense of the word.

However, the source is supplied in the download - so it is "open" to being modified by you!
