Jame's C-example used the _RFILE struct and the ropen API, etc. - these are record-based functions for working with physical and display and printer (and maybe other kinds of) files in C/C++ - not typically for stream files, if at all - I forget. And his later post said he is using native RPG IO, hence, F-specs.

No, RPG does not have "native" support for streamfiles, like it has for db files with "chain" and the likes.

But it is easy to declare some RPG prototypes to use the "UNIX-style" API's like "fopen" to access streamfiles on the IFS.
