My apologies for making this more difficult.......you are correct I am
typing out the values in strsql, but I did not think that was an issue since
I have the variables defined as d specs and have verified I am passing in
the values BEFORE the sql statement is run.

Here is EXACTLY what I am typing in strsql:

SELECT SUM(SLEXT$) FROM SLSTRNL5 WHERE SLTDAT >20070722 AND SLTDAT <
=20070801 AND SLSHRT=' ' AND SLCLAS > 1 AND SLACCT = 10103900

Now the order of criteria fields has varied some, but in the end I am using
the same fields and the same values between both the rpg and the strsql

because it should be returning 110.45.....I know
that is beyond the scope of this forum, but the same statement runs in
strsql......

Doug:

Please note that "the same statement" CANNOT run in STRSQL.

That is, the statement that you are showing us has host-variables.
You can't use host variables in STRSQL. Therefore, you must be
typing constant values in.

We can't see how those values are being typed in and we don't see
what the definitions of host variables are in the program.

Perhaps if you showed us precisely what statement 'works', we could
suggest things to look for in your program.
