You say something that is unclear to me.
Lets say Moore's Law is still in effect, which seems to still be the case.

What is the effect of a 50% drop in revenue per transistor, every 18 months, over a couple of decades? Doesn't there have to be a point where increasing sales can no longer be sustained?

Well, not to sound like Chicken Little, but with System i sales down, (or whatever IBM calls it today), seemingly every quarter, I don't see what all these wonderful enhancements are going to do for us. A few more years of IBM's sales strategy and there won't be anymore iSeries platforms for us to program anything on.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to see IBM focus on SELLING the platform even if it takes a backseat to new development. I have complete faith in our community's ability to keep the ball rolling when it comes to coding. Vendors will make packages and people will collaborate to get things done with the tools they have available now, but that's all moot if there's no platform to do it on.

Just my $.02
