However, will that memory location eventually be re-used, since I set on

LR? 

No - ILE programs only "pretend" to release their storage when LR is set on
- unlike OPM programs which do indeed release memory.  But I would still
consider it a very risky approach.  It will work as long as the program that
"owns" the storage is a) An ILE program and b) running in the same AG as the
program using the pointer.
