The enhancements to CL were kept secret and the result were subroutines The fact that they didn't tell you doesn't make it a secret Steve. There was quite a large group of iSeries users recruited by IBM to advise and review the CL enhancements. I wasn't one of them but I know a few who were. Personally I agree that subprocedures would have been a better choice - but then I rarely program in CL so what do I know. >> C# knows nothing about talking to a blackberry. why should RPG? Because RPG programmers want it to? API access to most everything is already available. It could be made a lot simpler than it is if folks would take the trouble to wrap their APIs as SPECIAL files - that would make both sides happy since the "If it can't be accessed via a READ/CHAIN/WRITE I won't use it" would be using the stuff as well as those of us who do use the APIs.
