I've worked on the iSeries since 88, and all its predecessors since 80. The
IBMers have done what they needed to do to sell product, I've done what I've
needed to do to feed my family. It's a programming language, not a religion.
I don't light a candle to the folks at Rochester - I use what they make.

that seems to be the goal of a lot of people on this platform, IBMers
included.  I cant fault the sentiment, but it is not very fair to those who
did the outstanding work to create the system.

I do challenge the notion that the system can last another 10 years.  How
quickly did DEC implode once they lost their forward momentum?  To
paraphrase Woody Allen, a computer system is like a shark. It either moves
forward or dies.
