When loading the subfile use the read(n) to read with no lock then when you need to update chain with the keys to lock the record for update.... To avoid record locks, I created a new logical file with the same key as the originals. Is there a more elegant solution, which avoids creating a second logical? This is my first posting, so I would appreciate any advice. Thanks, Ken
