Hi Douglas, A date field with DATFMT(*JUL) will give it to you. You can move any other "D" data type field to this field and the system will convert it to Julian format for you. e.g., D'06/017' (the field would show '06/017' for January 17, 2006). If you don't want the edit symbol in the result, then don't declare a Julian DATFMT field, just a 5-digit numeric field and use MOVE C *JUL0 MOVE myDateField userJulian 6 0 -Bob Cozzi www.RPGxTools.com RPG xTools - Enjoy programming again. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Douglas W. Palme Sent: Thursday, January 05, 2006 1:58 PM To: RPG Group Subject: Generating Julian Date One of our customers is requiring us to generate a material number based upon the following: Julian Date Year Release Number The release number we will generate based upon what has already been used before, however I haven't played with julian dates in years, what I am needing is just the julian number for the day for the year we are currently in. suggestions on how to extract that? If you bought it, it was hauled by a truck - somewhere, sometime.
