Ok before I replied I had to look up "obfuscated" lol. I meant the numerical equation itself was simplified. Whether or not the code was "obfuscated" would depend largely on the documentation prior to the code. I prefer to see equations written out in real life examples prior to the actual code that is there. That way at least anyone coming behind you to program it can look at it and say "oh yeah, get the square root of the superflux capacitor reading, then increase exponentially to the power of the warp coil, and divide by the mass of the ship." lol. If you "simplify" to the point that a knowledge of algebra is needed before you can understand the relationship of the code to the original requirement ... then haven't you obfuscated rather than simplified? The version ( ( FieldA - 1 ) / FieldA ) * 100 is a direct representation of the original requirement and there can't be a lot of difference performance wise.
