True. But isn't that our job? I doubt a user really cares how we calculate the result as long as it's correct. The problem would occur with math challenged programmers or managers who'd be eyeing the code. We've already had someone point out that the simplified equation would have a divide by zero error but wasn't sure with the original equation. The divide by zero boundary condition was more obvious. Could that be evidence that the resulting equation is easier to work with? Paul
