>Yep, you're missing something. <grin> Yes, but is what I'm missing better change management software, or just mental clarity ? >Even though you may recreate the service program, by watching what you change >and by taking advantages of binder source, you don't have to recompile the >program that use the procedures in the service program. Methinks I have heard rumours of this "Binder Source" fellow. I shall seek his aid, and challenge his honour should he refuse me. >In Aldon, we define the binder source as the source for the service program >object. Aldon, I think I heard some of the folks at the country club speak well of him. I hear he charges a pretty penny for his services. >So we just check out the *SRVPGM object and the appropriate *MODULEs. Make the >changes, recompile, and promote back. No other programs need be touched. The Graal !! That's what I'm after. I tried that with Implementer, but it automatically tried to recompile the program which uses the module, and failed. So I had to check it out and promote it along with the module and srvpgm, then it compiled OK. I'll have to see if the binder source thing can be used with Implementer. Thanks for your input Charles. At least you've confirmed that my quest is not entirely ill-founded. Anyone else out there using Implementer? I see Kimaly has chimed in with what may be the death knell for my hopes of accomplishing this with Implementer, although there may be a glimmer of hope yet in the fact that her info is apparently second hand. Anyone out there made this work with IM ? Or can anyone confirm Kimaly's report ? Now, if I only had a mug of ale. That, I think I can find. Have a swell weekend everyone.
