I've heard this argument before. I don't buy it. First off, you can get an 3GHz class machine for much less than $1,000. The productivity of WDSC makes for a quick ROI given the low cost of new hardware. I think that the argument is simply an excuse used by developers who don't want to leave their comfort zone.
