I understand you can do this by defining keyword RECNO with the File Declaration. FWORKFILE UF E DISK RECNO(WRKRRN) When u read a particular record in the file , you can get the RRN in the WRKRRN ( Its what I have defined in the example). If you want to update your file you can chain with the WRKRRN and update it.
