cursor should not got back to the first field if you use the CSRLOC keyword in you display. Just need to populate the row and col fields in CSRLOC before you exfmt. I hate using cursor positions for this. Guess what you need to do if you happen to move everything down a line. Programmer tends to forget to do that. All the sudden the decode is not working. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Fisher, Don Sent: Thursday, December 30, 2004 2:33 PM To: 'RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries' Subject: RE: Retrieving Cursor Position from Screen. The only problem with this approach, and I admit it's a minor one, is if the user has moved the cursor off the field by a character or two. If this has happened, the the prompt won't be displayed and the cursor will go back to the first field on the screen. I personally prefer to use internally defined cursor positions in lieu of some way to identify the field header the way I can using HLPARA.
