The only problem with this approach, and I admit it's a minor one, is if the user has moved the cursor off the field by a character or two. If this has happened, the the prompt won't be displayed and the cursor will go back to the first field on the screen. I personally prefer to use internally defined cursor positions in lieu of some way to identify the field header the way I can using HLPARA. Donald R.
