Bryan,
Are you opposed to actually using a purchased tool? If not, Jim
Sloan's jfsloan@xxxxxxxxxxx (507-288-1749) TAATOOL productivity set has a
command CVTSAVFD which does exactly what you are asking for. If this is for
internal use only you might want to look into purchasing. If you intend
this to used in a package you sell you might inquire with Jim Sloan about
licensing the CVTSAVFD command.

As far as listing SAVF's within SAVF's I do not see there is the
ability in any tools except for maybe a raw data SAVF tool. Without reading
the raw SAVF data a tool would have to restore the main SAVF objects to get
to the inner SAVF objects. I see that type of operation a bit of a security
and resource risk.

Thank you,

Bryan:

Do you have a plan for when the savefile contains nested savefiles? Listing
the content of a savefile is fairly easy; doing it "recursively" would be a
bit more tricky.

And is there any chance a savefile could be created on another system and
then moved here before being FTPd out? This could cause very tricky problems
if two systems are at different VRMs.
