DB2 is marvelously intelligent, and will provide intelligent feedback as to which access paths are considered, and if they are not used, why not. In my experience with SQL on any platform, indexing is the science of improving performance. And with DB2, there are Binary Radix tree, AND the Encoded Vector index types.
