I thought db2 is intelligent enuf to choose the best availabel accept path. Also if you use visualexplain the optimizer would make suggestions as to what kind of a index could be created to improve SQL performance. To have SQL tell you which access path to create, run your select in debug mode and then look at your job log to see which field(s) the optimizer used to access your data.
