Maybe we need to be more aggressive. Sure they give me a cubical (or office)
but I always connect my laptop to their system.

there's the rub - I've been in consulting for more than 20 years, and I've
never walked in the door of client, hooked my own fully configured pc up to
thier network and started working.

Rather, I walk in the door, they show me to an empty cube with an
underpowered hand me down pc with an old version of client access, or they
show me to a twinax dumb workstation.

Which is the biggest (but not the only) reason why I'm not using CODE
today.

Consultants are used to working in the lowest common denominator - in this
case SEU.

in a regular office environment you may not see the benefits so readily.
At the end of the day - despite all of the hype and fervour - I suggest
