Joe - Dig into Dreamweaver. When you get a bit of a grasp on it you'll love it. I do eRPG for 'entertainment' purposes only, but I think I've followed a natural progression of learning it. I also do websites on the side, so that's sped up the Dreamweaver learning. I followed a lot of Brad's examples from his book and open source sites and originally built everything inside of an RPGIV program. Even as far as loading the HTML code into an array at the bottom ... ugly. Now I'm building pages in Dreamweaver, add all the JavaScript you want through their behaviors, and loading it into physical files. I place special tags in the HTML for things like ###SELECTION_BOX### and all that good stuff. Next I'll have to move onto the IFS I guess! Like you said, you can do all the logic in your RPGLE program and use the HTML like your display file. -----Original Message----- From: Joep Beckeringh [mailto:joep.beckeringh@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, May 14, 2003 3:21 AM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: Re: RPG and Web.. Oh, and how is the Webfacing project doing? HATS, what is that? Forget all that, Hans 'Monty' Boldt says it has to be done in Python now. Programmers who start building web applications have to know about HTML, HTTP, probably JavaScript and SQL. They are probably the ones that have to get the HTTP server up and running, learn to configure the darn thing. And then along comes Bradley and not only tells you, but shows you that most programming can be done in good old RPG. Sort of being dropped in a foreign country, strange food, weird clothes, unknown social structure, but, halleluja!, they understand English (Dutch would be fine as well :-)). The local language may be a much better choice for proper communication with the locals, but I'll get to that when I am comfortable with the other things.
