You can do that with RPG too Walden. Fairly easily. Code/400 works offline Plus, if you want to connect to an iSeries there's lots of them on the web that will provide an account on the cheap. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Date: Wednesday, May 14, 2003 9:11:31 AM To: 'RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries' Subject: RE: RPG and Web.. Yes, but the cool thing about Java (esp. over something like RPG) is that you can learn, practice and do all this stuff on your home PC and apply that knowledge to your iSeries at work. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x11 (208) 692-3308 eFax WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur. (was Using OO concepts in RPG) Cool, so I can put Java down on my resume? ;) There is so much to learn and I'm not using this 'for real' anywhere so that makes it even tougher. But that's cool to know that with a few extra steps it can be that much more. Thanks Joe. -----Original Message----- From: Joe Pluta [mailto:joepluta@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, May 14, 2003 9:24 AM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: RPG and Web.. Which means you're in effect building JavaServer Pages, which are nothing more than HTML and some data filled in from a JavaBean. The only thing you need to do now is to write a servlet to call your RPG logic, put the data into a JavaBean and invoke the JSP! Joe
