that is true Peter. I think it can be argued that the as400 is a queue based system compared to windows which is event based. Attach a data queue to the display file and have the program read the data queue with no delay. If it gets a data queue entry, a function key was pressed and it can display the status, otherwise, just keeps on doing its primary task.
