-- -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Interestingly enough, IBM provides a product called VARPG which uses the RPG language for all of its function. While it certainly wasn't IBM's intention to provide RPG on the Windows platform they've done it and its a pretty good product. My favorite demo of the function we RPG programmers can do in a Windows enviroment is a count-down timer which is a simple application with a slider in it that the enduser can set. The slider has a delay-time up to 60 minutes. The timer ticks down and at the end plays a little song. Nothing spectacular of course until you realize its written in RPGIV. My limited experience is that you can develop a project with all of the function and appearance of a Visual Basic program and do it in about 1/2 the time with about twice the performance speed. File support (for the PC) falls into the "it sucks" category because there is no indexed file support on the PC side. It can however read and write sequential files. Printing is abysmal. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@MartinVT.com --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: rpg400-l@midrange.com Date: Monday, December 30, 2002 07:24:35 To: rpg400-l@midrange.com Subject: Is RPG available on any other platform ? If so, how to get the information related to it. Regards, Niki -- [ IMSTP.gif of type image/gif deleted ] --
