I agree with the principal of giving credit where credit is due. For example, product documentation should include such credits where appropriate. On the other hand, displaying those credits within the application can indeed become problematic. If the author requires us to display a copyright notice on each 24x80 display screen; that's a problem. If the author settles for the equivalent of a "Help|About" screen, but requires it to be accessible from the entire application, and I have to lose one of my 24 function keys to do so; that's a problem.
