This is a thread that has run it's course, and I don't think there is any
real interest in opening up the debate again.

I will only go so far as to say that the specifics of the GPL license are
available to all at www.gnu.org. To those contemplating the use of GPL code
within an application, I believe it is their responsibility to inform the
application copyright holder of those intentions, and to provide them with a
copy of the GPL, so that they may make an informed decision. This is not a
technology decision, it is a business/legal decision which may have
significant consequences, and therefore needs to be considered carefully by
the corporate stewardship.
