Nope. Already had that. As mentioned in the first post, the file in
question does not allow deletes.

I should have phrased the question better. What I was really after was
whether S/36 files were typically not delete-capable. Memory seems to serve
that one would typically use a one-character status field, change a record's
status to 'D' or 'X' when it became "deleted", and those records were not
included in a reorg at some future date.

I was going to surmise that S/36 RPG-II did not allow a program to delete
records from a file, but then RPG-II has always had the DEL option on the
O-spec, hasn't it?

P.S. I solved the problem by just putting the delete status on the records
I was trying to delete, so they'll be purged at the end of the month.

Thanks!

Subject: Re: delete records from a S/36 (QS36F) file?

What about this?

C except delrecord

....

Ofilename EDEL delrecord

---original message------
Wracking my brains, trying to figure out how to delete records from a
program-described file. Finally determined that the S/36-type file does
not allow deletes. Is this typical for QS36F files?
