I still use internally described files in RPG IV. I also use Level breaks when the situation calls for it. Note that one can put Lx indicators on external files as well as I specs. For the quick finish, I gave up counting lines of code when I stopped buying punch cards. Counting lines of code is like counting the number of nails we use when shoeing the horse to determine the quality of the horse. --buck
