Dan,

You make a good point. Most of the api's we're using and are currently the
'coding method du jour' are NOT well documented, and many are darn near
impossible to decifer - UNLESS you are used to them.

and the fifteen minutes it takes to understand the cycle and it's features
would be well worth it for any new programmer to spend. It will serve
him/her well in the future, if they ever find themselves needing to
maintain old code.

I have a feeling that the cycle has fallen out of favor, not because it's
bad, but because it's old. If the cycle never existed before, and were
added to rpg as a 'new' feature, I'd bet some of the avoiders would be the
first in line to try out the new stuff. ('hey, look at what I can do - I
can define control breaks simply by putting a L indicator next to the field
on an I spec, and testing for that flag!! - isn't that cool?')

regards,

rick
