Actually, the new field names should be coded in positions 7-21.  The
parameter for keyword EXTFLD is the external field name.

Troy:  Exactly what are you trying to accomplish?  Renaming fields on
the D-Spec as shown does not have the same effect as renaming fields on
I-Specs.  If you code the ext-desc data structure, your I/O operations
will still use the fields named in the DDS, and not these renamed
fields in an EDS.

If you want to read from an ext-desc file and have the data moved into
variables with different names than defined in the DDS, I believe the
only way is by coding the renames on I-Specs.
